AC Nielsen Test Manager

I am excited about this new opportunity. Team is going to be around 50 odd people. I need manage very well and lay lots of importance on DEFENCE. I need to temper my reactions and not show my frustrations on people.

To summarize the lessons learnt from previous experiences,

1. I am not going treat any one as my competitor and indulge in power plays.
2. Play lots of DEFENCE. During the first few months, never open your cards, learn everything and observe people.
3. I introduce new policies taking test leads in to confidence so that buy in process from the team is fully there. Without team buy in, bharathi, you are not going go far.
4. Have your head always on your shoulders. but also don't underestimate yourselves.
5. Never underestimate others.
6. Be careful of women employees. Women in these days are highly demanding. hence play defence.
7. Follow Periamma's advice, " IF you are not able to do any thing particular, dont get disappointed just keep going"
8. And if some one doesn't show respect, allow them time, you dont go and try to get their attention. They will be soon interested in you and show interest in you.
9. Find out the repetitive tasks and push it to your team members.
10. Concentrate on the structural strategy. Don't get into details ! It is a quagmire. You cannot come out of it.
11. Finally never get the feeling, that if a particular action has not happened, things cannot move at all.

"Bharathi, you have failed multiple times over the point 11. Dont fail again"

Yoga

So after a wonderful year at San Jose, California, i am back in India, Chennai working out of digial zone. I did join the yoga classes at sivananda yoga center. My yoga teacher was from Oakland, CA. Wow what feeling it was to know about it ! I was reminded of the wonderful days in the Bay area. I wish my daughter Yamuna has an opportunity to visit San jose and do see the american way of life in CA.
